New Faculty Introduction

We would like to introduce two new full-time faculty members to Faculty of International Studies, Department of International Studies, who will join us in April 2022.

Associate Professor Choi Seong-hee

Main subjects: Korean language, Workshop, Introductory Seminar 2, Regional Special Seminar 3 (Korean Peninsula), Seminar 1 & 2
Specialization: Modern Korean history, history of education, gender history
Message: I am a Korean resident of Japan from Sapporo, Hokkaido. My specialty is secondary education in Korea in the 1920s and 1930s. I have taught Korean language classes from beginner to advanced levels, as well as classes and seminars on modern Korean history at universities in the Kanto region. Let's learn about the Korean Peninsula, the closest foreign country to Japan and a country with deep ties to the Kinki region, from various angles, including language, history, and culture. You may see a different side of the Korean Peninsula from K-POP and dramas.

Lecturer: Takuya Yuasa

Main subjects: International Relations, International Cooperation, Peace Studies, Workshops, Research Literacy Seminar 2, Current Affairs, Seminars 1 and 2
Field of expertise: International relations, Japanese political and diplomatic history
Message: My name is Yuasa and I joined Faculty of International Studies in April. I specialize in international relations and Japanese political and diplomatic history. I have been researching international cooperation activities in prewar Japan. I look forward to learning about the structure and challenges of the international community together with you all. This is my first time living in Osaka, so I am very much looking forward to what the future holds.

Faculty of International Studies is more and more lively with the arrival of two new teachers and new students! Starting in the new academic year, there will be a significant increase in face-to-face classes. Although the current difficult situation continues, let's work together to make student life even more fulfilling!
